North Vernon Elementary
North Vernon Elementary school is located in North Vernon Indiana and serves students who live in both Vernon and North Vernon. Our school began serving our community 50 years ago, and we continue to provide a quality education to these students. We currently educate over 600 students and have 90 staff members who dedicate their time to growing our kids.
NVE strives to provide a safe and loving environment where students get excited about learning, are challenged to be problem solvers, take ownership in their own learning, and are taught to be caring individuals so that they may be successful beyond our walls. We know that our students deserve nothing but the best and work to provide that every day.
A Message from Our Principal
Dear Families:
We have had a great start to the 2023–24 school year! It is hard to believe that the end of the first quarter is already upon us, but we are excited as we transition through fall into the coming winter months. With our theme of "The Future is Bright at NVE" this year, our kids will continue to grow and shine through the dreary winter months. There are great things happening at NVE, and we can't wait to continue on our journey with your student.
As we get into October, it is important to take some time and reflect on the learning that has happened so far. We have continued to make strides towards being a STEM-certified school with weekly projects and activities including growing butterflies from caterpillars, designing tower structures to withstand earthquakes, and dissecting owl pellets to identify bones from rodents. We had a very successful PTO fundraiser with our "Penny Wars," raising over $6,000 that will be put towards providing more educational experiences for our kids. Our teachers are also working diligently to model being lifelong learners by diving into research behind the science of reading and bringing new practices and strategies into the classrooms. It has been a fun-filled quarter so far with lots of successes, but we could not do it without our family and community support. We appreciate all that our community does and gives to NVE to help educate our children. NVE is a great place to be because of your support. Thank you!
In Learning,
Nicholas Hill
